'What's the best home décor accessory?' It's kind of a silly question, isn't it? When you think of all of the accessories you can add to a home – pillows and throws, baskets and boxes, artwork and sculpture, light fixtures and accent furniture – how could you possibly pick just one? But, along with other topics such as which shade of white is the absolute best, these are the kinds of questions interior designers ponder.
If we were headed to a deserted island and had to choose just one type of home accessory, it would be glass. Think of all the things which are rendered in glass: Stemware and serving pieces; light fixtures and candle holders; artful objects and household necessities. And consider its limitless looks: Clear or colored; weighty or paper thin; translucent or almost opaque; brushed or polished. Glass really is the clear winner.

At Welch Company: A collection of glass spheres in a variety of beachy blues arranged in a jute-covered tray; an effortless way to add an impact to any room.
From one of our interior design projects: This kitchen has a fairly low ceiling. By arranging a collection of vintage glass bottles on an open shelf, the eye is drawn up making the ceiling feel higher and the space more open.
At Welch Company: These hanging light fixtures range from classic New England to coastal with a vintage vibe to cool and contemporary, but all have one thing in common...glass.
From one of our interior design projects: This oversized coffee table, which has both a glass top and lower shelf, is substantial enough to feel proportional in the large room but doesn't feel too weighty. A trio of glass orbs in a burnt orange hue seem to glow when the light hits them just right.
