A Beach House for All Seasons

It's the middle of January. Now that all of your holiday decor has been put away, do you find the coastal style of your home feeling a little chilly and uninviting? While the pastel hues of sea and sand, and an uncluttered look, are just perfect in the carefree summer months, you may want to introduce a few things to create a cozier feel in the winter.

Add Table Lamps: In August, when the twilight seems to last forever and you're outside all of the time, wall sconces and ceiling lights can suffice. But when the dark hours of a day seem to last forever, a room needs more light. Adding table lamps to a room sprinkles the space with soft pools of light, creating visual focal points and adding a sense of warmth to the overall space. Putting a lamp on a small table next to an overstuffed chair can give an awkward corner a sense of purpose. Instead of feeling random, it becomes a cozy reading nook.

Get Cozy with Pillows & Throws: This suggestion seems quite obvious, doesn't it? But even if your sofa is always filled with perfectly-plumped pillows, consider swapping them out for something with more texture in the winter months. It can completely transform a room. Switch those feather-light linen pillows with fun faux fur ones or choose a plush chenille. Add cashmere or heavy-weight cotton throws to a room - Brahms Mount has great ones - that are large enough to make cold nights feel like the perfect time to cuddle rather than something to be dreaded.
